Anna Battista is a freelance journalist, writer and independent scholar. She started writing roughly 17 years ago and decided to become a journalist because she had a natural curiosity for life and nurtured a passion for discovering stories. Rebelling against her journalism lecturers' who claimed the first step to get into the business was to intern at a local paper and become a coffee girl as you patiently waited for your turn, she decided to go her own way.
Working as a freelancer she has contributed in different languages and fields to many established and independent American, British, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish magazines. The publications she has collaborated with include Dazed Digital, Port Magazine, The Guardian, Vogue Russia,Vogue Italia and Interview Magazine Russia.
At the moment she is focusing on writing and researching topics at the intersection of art, fashion, architecture and science. In the last ten years she has developed a parallel discourse in these fields, lecturing about them as a journalist in various institutions including the Museum of Photography in Moscow and the AA Visiting School Paris at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. She has also worked as an exhibition curator and is the co-author of the book accompanying the exhibition of Marga Weimans 'Fashion House' at the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands.
Anna’s architecture, art, culture, design, fashion and film notes are collected on her website, Irenebrination. Originally founded in 2008 as a tribute to Italian journalist Irene Brin, it has been mentioned in publications such as the New York Times and the Financial Times.
Objectivity, precision and honesty are the three most important principles in Anna's career and she would like to share her knowledge and passion with the readers of Newsmodo, an innovative dynamic platform to spread information.
